Transform your vocabulary and you’re transforming your life
What if I tell it’s all about language: transform your vocabulary and you’re transforming your life?! Yes!
In my book “Mothers of the World” – NLP at the service of education with ethics, I speak about it.
If you want results, speak clearly, beyond any doubt. Language leads your thoughts to specific directions and helps you to create your reality, enhancing or limiting your opportunities. The capacity to use language precisely is essential for you to better communicate.
Positive language, always!
If you always keep present that language generates emotions, in you and in the other, then, you can not but to use it in your favor!
Transform your vocabulary and you are metamorphosing your emotions!
What kind of words to use? Everyone that pushes you in the direction of the desired state! You can use all the words that make you feel good and avoid those that cause you unpleasant sensations.
Transform your vocabulary and you’re transforming your life, your experiences
Some expressions and words to avoid:
Be aware of “no”
The word no is an abstraction, it says nothing, is empty. That is why the brain is going to fix on what comes after the “no”.
That is to say, for it to know what it shouldn’t think, it has to think it first. The use of a negative language causes the behavior that is wished to avoid. Complicated?
Try: “ Don’t think about a yellow elephant with blue dots?”
What have you thought? Well, the brain always prevails, unless, you change your language.
Be aware of “but”
I will come to it below. For now keep in mind that every time you use this word you’re overriding everything you said before. For example: “you’ve been very dedicated, but…”,
Replace “but” with “and”.
Be aware of “try”
The sentence that has “try” on it.
Assumes always the possibility of failure. For example: “Tomorrow I will try to wake up at 8 a.m.”. Then, you have a big chance of not going to, because you’ll just “try”.
Be aware of “I should”, “I have to”, “I need”
The sentence that has any of those words always assumes that your life is controlled by something external.
Use instead: “I want”, “I decide”, “I go”.
Be aware of “I can’t” and “I can’t do it”
The sentence that has those words transmits the idea of personal inability.
Language is one of the keys to the changeover of your mind, of your body and of your results. It’s also why it is part of my NLP Parenting training.
Great! (Re) start now!
