SRI International, Silicon Valley’s magic stage and the birthplace of Conscious Systems
SRI International is a research institute in Menlo Park, California, right next to Stanford University, in Silicon Valley and it is also the birthplace of Conscious Systems (we’ll get to that). It was created by the founders of Stanford University in 1946, under the name Stanford Research Institute (held until 1977) and it was intended to be an innovation center to support the economic development of the region. It was a success and today it is a kind of Silicon Valley’s magic stage and a world reference.
Silicon Valley is a real inspiration to me. For two years I have visited the region, a few companies, of which I highlight Google, and I am part of a Mastermind group that was born there. I feel that many things, very good things that are changing the world for better emerge there (my loved Conscious Systems is an example). Of course, I visited SRI International. I had the honor and the luck of having the vice-president, Robert Pearlstein, as a host.
SRI International is an independent, non-profit institute that works in the areas of cutting-edge technologies, from their design to getting to the market. I venture to say that everything that guides what is best in the modern world goes through the rigorous sieve of SRI International. SIRI was born here, such as the mouse, the copy and paste, online banking, the medical ultrasound, oncological treatments… As you can imagine, the field is incredible! Curiosity and creativity guiding the day-to-day agenda!
In such a special place, Success Factor Modeling is king and teamwork is key to success. SRI International believes that the greatest challenges and social opportunities require the collective work of the most brilliant and pragmatic minds, those who think and act out of the box, thus making the difference.
In Silicon Valley (where I am always so happy), the most entrepreneurial and successful companies know well the power of defining intentions, of focus, of flexibility and the result of working as a team, thus generating healthier lives with more knowledge, prosperity and peace. This is what inspires me so much in that valley and what has so much inspired Conscious Systems (taking the risk of being repetitive).
Education (a topic that is so dear to me), biomedical sciences, materials chemistry, IT systems, economic development, energy technology, environmental learning, national security and defense, as well as sensors and devices, artificial intelligence are some of the many areas highlighted at SRI International. SRI has already registered more than a thousand patents all over the world.
The eternal feminine at SRI International, Silicon Valley and Conscious Systems
This is a place where women (mostly scientists) have a voice, where I found equal value, authenticity, congruence, responsibility and inclusion. In essence, I found the values of Conscious Systems being practiced at SRI International, it was not by change that it was born there. And that is so good! It Is wonderful to see how an institute with the power that SRI International has, in Silicon Valley, takes further beyond the discussion on issues such as diversity, the challenges that women face in their everyday life, the progress standing out and how it is possible to welcome and attract even more women into this brave world. This is really a place where intentions guide optimist and make it happen.
Meanwhile, and since here at home we are all science fans and we try to take it to our daughters (even because the youngest one says she is a scientist and astronaut), knowing that this can be a real challenge I share this research that may interest you, inspire you and open new and potential horizons.
At SRI International, in Silicon Valley, the future is now, it is a decision and it is here! I contribute with Conscious Systems and I believe that, in fact, today the world is a place with more future than yesterday.
May the entrepreneur spirit of Silicon Valley be with you!
